Speech and Language Evaluation
Our Speech-Language Evaluation assesses preschool and school-aged students to determine their language understanding/use, production of speech sounds, vocal/nasal quality, and social language skills. A norm-referenced speech-language tests and numerous components such as student records, students/parent interview, classroom observation and other observational data/methods are utilized to evaluate a child’s speech-language strengths and weaknesses across many areas. Speech-Language assessments are reviewed by the student's local school district's Child Study Team in conjunction with other reports as well as classroom achievements and accommodations to determine if Speech-Language needs exist and the child meets the criteria for New Jersey Special Education Eligibility. A detailed written report, outlined recommendations and goal development for possible Speech-Language Therapy for the child is also shared with parents. Speech and language evaluations are conducted by a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Committee pursuant to N.J.S.A. N.J.A.C. State of New Jersey Department of Education, Division of Licensure and Credentials. Admin N.J. Admin. Code § N.J.A.C.6A:14-2.5.
